#PBDummy Challenge - Step Five: Render Tight, Full-Sized Sketches

Today we start step five of the Picture Book Dummy Challenge.  I feel like this is the point of the challenge where things get serious....and I guess it is. These are the drawings that are going to make up our #PBDummy. There are 8 weeks for this step. Last year, somewhere during those 8 weeks I lost my mojo and didn't make to step six. This year I am bound and determined to keep up and make it through.

How is everyone else doing on the challenge? Let us know in the comments below or tell us about your progress on our facebook page.

As with the previous steps I encourage you to read the step five post from last year's challenge at the kidlitart blog where Bonnie Adamson gives some great links to resources that will help us through this phase of the challenge.

If you would like to learn more about the 2013 #PBDummy Challenge you can learn all the details here

And please check out our participants here.

  1. I tend to make too many changes during this stage and lose focus on the art. I think this year I'll have a stricter schedule and attempt to stick to it. Today or tomorrow I'll be over at FB with an overall update.
Maybe we could chat about ways to keep your momentum. That would be a great help to me.

  2. Last week my story got the same criticism for the 3rd time from a 3rd reader, so I think I need to revise it again. This hasn't really changed the way I see the illustrations going, but I've gotten behind on my layouts. I hope to do some major revision and catch up this week. I don't think I'm on the PBDummy facebook page yet, but I'd love to chat. I have a class on Thursdays and can't every make the twitter chat.

    1. Glad to hear your got some good feedback on your story. Good luck catching up this week. Have you had troubles joining the fb group? Sry if we have already communicated about this previously. A number of challengers had some troubles and I have lots track. Let me know if you have trouble joining the group. It seems like the twitter chat timing doesn't work for a lot of people, so the fb group is a great forum for discussion where everyone can join regardless of their geography or schedule.
